The Ludington Area Center for the Arts is a 501c3 Not for Profit that strives to foster a community where arts and culture bring us together, feed the creative spirit, and fuel community growth. Located at 107 S. Harrison St. in downtown Ludington, Mich. LACA offers monthly exhibits, with first Friday of the month opening receptions; and a wide assortment of performances and workshops. Art Shop 107 by LACA serves as the art center’s gift shop and features amazing original artwork from LACA members, perfect for gifts or home décor. Chirp will be @ the Mitten Bar 9-11 pm. 
Chirp is a four-piece genre-hopping band based out of Ann Arbor, MI. Often playing in the styles of progressive rock/funk and jazz-fusion, their sound maintains a melodic center. The group features a wide array of originals and covers in their live sets and puts together dynamic, high-energy shows.
Though their music ties in many technical elements, an equal emphasis is put on grooving and keeping people moving. Chirp takes influence from Snarky Puppy, Steely Dan, Led Zeppelin, James Brown, Yes, Daft Punk, Vulfpeck, and The Beatles, to name a few. Chirp has been hard at work since their formation in 2015, touring and recording consistently since the project began. Their fresh sound has taken them touring across the Midwest to play a large variety of venues and festivals.
Chirp is Jay Frydenlund, Brian Long, Sam Naples, and Patrick Blommel.

HONKY TONK NIGHTS — THEY'RE BACK.

Every once in a while we bring a band into The Sand Bar for the first time and before the night is even over, we're already talking about when we can get them back.

That's exactly what happened when GlenBrooke & The Wild Weeds played here in May.

They were AWESOME.

So we're bringing them back.

If you were here that night, you already know what I'm talking about. If you weren't... here's your second chance.

Fronted by GlenBrooke Moretz, this Port Huron-based band brings together country, Americana and some serious rock & roll. You'll hear everything from new and old country to Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, the Eagles and Janis Joplin — along with GlenBrooke's own original music.

And these guys have put in the miles.

GlenBrooke has been performing for more than 15 years, with appearances at Faster Horses, CMA Fest, Thumb Fest and Blue Collar Fest. But what impressed me when they came to Ludington wasn't the résumé.

It was the SHOW.

Great musicians. A killer voice. Songs everybody knows. And the kind of energy that gets the whole room involved.

That's exactly what we want our Honky Tonk Nights to be about.

We continue to make a commitment to bringing incredible live music to downtown Ludington — and whenever we can, we're going to bring it to you FREE.

So who's coming back for round two?

And who's finally coming to see what they missed the first time?

There are bands you book.
And then there are bands that are simply part of the fabric of the local music scene.
For me, The Stinks are those guys.
I've known these guys for years. They're friends. They're characters. They're musicians who have been part of the Ludington and West Michigan music community for a long time — and they've never forgotten the most important part of playing live music:
It's supposed to be FUN.
The Stinks bring the classic rock, the deep cuts, the songs you forgot how much you loved, plenty of crowd interaction and just enough unpredictability that you never quite know what's coming next.
Kinks. Ramones. Beatles. Bowie. Stones. Replacements. And whatever else these guys decide to throw at us.
And on Friday, September 11, we're putting them exactly where they belong...
right on the Sand Bar stage.
This is one I've been looking forward to.
Because one of the things we believe deeply at the Sand Bar is that supporting live music doesn't only mean chasing the next big touring act.
It means celebrating the musicians who've been right here doing it for years.

After 20 years of hibernation, 2 of the remaining members of Centerline, along with some fresh new faces, are resurrecting the band once again. Everyone welcome to take turns picking, singing or calling a tune (or passing your turn on to the next person) as we make music together in an old-time tradition of fully acoustic instruments. It's a great no-pressure way to learn, listen, hone skills and have fun together, while being courteous to fellow musicians, our host and their patrons (it's all acoustic so it's up to us to listen to one another and play so everyone in the circle can be heard).

There are big stages... and then there are those nights when you're standing just a few feet away from an incredible artist, cold drink in your hand, surrounded by friends, and the whole room feels like it's part of the show.
That's what we're building with Honky Tonk Nights.
And Friday, September 18, we're bringing another great one to downtown Ludington.
TYLER ROY — LIVE at The Sand Bar.
Tyler is a Nashville-recorded Michigan country artist who's spent more than a decade taking his music across the country. He's shared stages with national acts including Jerrod Niemann, BlackHawk, Creed Fisher, Moonshine Bandits, Levi Hummon and Adam Hambrick, and played everywhere from Nashville honky tonks to the legendary Flora-Bama.
But this Friday, you don't need a ticket or a seat 100 feet from the stage.
You just need to walk through our front door.
That's something that's become really important to me with these Honky Tonk Nights. We want to keep bringing talented artists to Ludington and give people a chance to experience them the way live music is supposed to feel — up close, personal and FREE.
So make a night of downtown Ludington.
